Sue Rostoni Comments On Blood Oath Cover

On the Starwars.com forums, Sue Rostoni recently commented on her VIP thread about the cover art for the upcoming Blood Oath:

We received the “final” cover art yesterday, but one of the other characters on the cover had to have her blaster changed — it looked too earth-bound, so we’re having it changed to a more Star Wars hold-out blaster style. Dave Seeley is painting the cover, and it looks awesome — At first glance it looks a bit like a romance novel cover, but don’t let that put you off. The cover features Zekk up front, with two women in the background… Hapan women… women you may remember from a previous LotF novel… oh, I just spilled my coffee — hang on a moment…

Great teaser for the cover to be sure. From the sound of things it seems like the two women she’s speaking of are the Zel sisters, Trista and Taryn, who some of you might remember from the last LOTF book Invincible. But we can’t be sure until we see the actual cover.

Wacky merchandise of the day: Vader toaster

Darth Vader toaster

The Darth Vader toaster is surely the first wave of a new line of borderline-inappropriate kitchen accessories. Think I’ll hold out for the Mustafar-themed immersion fryer. (Via Gizmodo, where all the expected comments have already been made.)

Michael Crichton passing

Author Michael Crichton died Tuesday of cancer at the age of 66.

Best known for the movies based on his novels, the novels themselves were a satisfying dip into the pool of science fiction. Such titles as Jurassic Park, The Andromeda Strain, and Timeline have been enjoyed by many over the years. He was also the creator of the long running series ER on NBC and the screenwriter of Twister.

BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style=”MARGIN-RIGHT: 30px”
P align=leftSTRONGFONT color=#808080For all you Star Wars diehards keeping track out there, November marks the 30th anniversary of the notorious “Star Wars Holiday Special,” a somewhat misguided 90-minute variety show that aired just once on November 17, 1978. For anyone who has seen it (”survived” is more like it), it’s pretty clear why Lucasfilm has opted not to officially release the special in any way, shape or form for three decades. Basic premise: Chewbacca races home to rescue his wife, son and father from the clutches of the sinister Empire, who invade the Wookiee’s home on Kashyyyk searching for any evidence of the Rebellion’s whereabouts. Believe us — it sounds better than it looks./FONT/STRONG/P

Is the new Futurama DVD better than the last?

The previous DVD movie, The Beast with a Billion Backs, seems to have been considered a mild disappointment. But hopes have been high for the fantasy-spoofing Bender’s Game, which came out on Tuesday. I still haven’t picked it up, but io9 reviews, and Underwire has an interview with director Dwayne Carey-Hill and Claudia Katz, senior vice president of Rough Draft, which produces the show.

Rebellion

Available at a comic book store near you this week is Star Wars: Rebellion Volume 3 Small Victories retailed at $12.95. The graphic novel collects the issues from the story arc in the comic under the same name written by Jeremy Barlow with art by Colin Wilson. The solicitation at DarkHorse.com reads:

Lieutenant Deena Shan is feeling insecure and worthless. After a few nearly disastrous missions with the Rebel Alliance, she is ready to give up, go home, and leave the rebellion to the true heroes.
That is, until Deena becomes part of a “suicide” mission that could hit the Empire where it really hurts! But, when Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are captured in process, Deena must reconcile herself to complete the mission and save these two figureheads of the Rebellion, and many others-single-handed!
Will she succeed, or will this be Deena’s last mistake?

KotOR Legacy CW
